About Us

Let me first introduce myself, I am Eric Rovegno. I am married to a beautiful woman who is Dorene with a daughter name Angelica. My story begins like this. From the time I was a young child I was always fascinated with reptiles. I guess this fascination was more geared toward snakes. It did not matter what type of snake it was as long as it was a snake. One problem though! My mother and grandmother are deathly afraid of them. What did this mean for me, well "NO" and I mean "NO" snakes allowed in or near the house.

The funny thing is that my wife at first was afraid of snakes. So when I told her I wanted to buy a snake she looked at me all crazy. She gave in and allowed me to buy one, a ball python. Needless to say that after we got it home and she began to hold it she began to enjoy them as well. I have always thought that ball pythons were the prettiest snakes. This is why my first purchase was a ball. Then another after about a year. After another year, we bought a redtail boa I found in the local paper. I should say I rescued her from abusive parents. When I got her she was only about 150 grams at around 1 1/2 years old. Now she weighs in at around 1500 after two years. She a big girl now and sure is docile when held. Now as you can tell I am teaching my daughter that snakes are not the monsters everyone makes them out to be. She is now 7yrs old and is just the regular snake charmer.

Our goal, is to provide pet owners and breeders with quality Ball Pythons that can be admired by all. When we purchase our breeders, we do not look at the price but instead at how nice it looks, and who it is from. My wife and I care about our animals and make sure that they are well cared for. We track all information about when our animals feed and what their current weights are. At Ball Python Planet we use a reptile tracking program called Degei. Using this program we are able to track document and add pictures to our animals.
